Food, drink & nails, need I say more?!

There are sometimes, where I am just so happy that I started my blog.   One of those times was when I got invited to attend an event at London Grace.   A wonderful new establishment that has opened in Putney ( those who know me well, know how much I love Putney).  Opening three months ago, the brainchild of who I know now is a genius, Kirsten Hazell.

Bringing together the ultimate trio, that makes a woman happy.  Nails, Food & Drink.

Outsiders could think that London Grace is just your typical nail salon, but what’s inside, it is way more than that.   A haven where you can get a no noncense manicure and other treatments, where all the colours are thoughtfully designed and created with no nasties in them.  One of the great things is the personal touch where all the nail colours are named and dedicated to people who have helped Kirsten on her journey to creating her dream.    With a fabulous team of passionate nail technitians behind her, you are guaranteed to get one of the best manicures you have ever had, and not break the bank!
But, it doesn’t stop there.   As soon as you walk through the door, you know this place is going to be different, instead of plastic chairs and overcrowded waiting areas, you are surrounded by exposed brick, funky furniture and serene surroundings.
One of the first big differences and one that catches your eye as soon as you walk in is the coffee bar.  With a gorgeous coffee machine, you know you will not be getting an instant coffee in here.  Hand crafted coffees, using beans that are roasted in Shoreditch (another wonderful touch that Kirsten has implemented, as all of the food and drink come from local suppliers), an array of delightful sweet treats, and something that you cannot miss.

There is also one thing that will change the way I get my nails done now for the rest of eternity.  They have a bar!!!  Not just any bar, but one stocked with locally made Gin and Vodka from Sipsmiths in Chiswick, delightful wine from a vineyard in France (more on that later) cocktails and bubbles! Full List can be found here . They even have beer (brewed locally in Hackney Wick of course), a clever idea which means that the men don’t have to just stay at home, or sit sulking whilst you get your nail fix!     Has this woman literally thought of everything?!  Oh and let me not forget food.  Not just your standard nibbles. Giant freshly made scotch eggs, sharing charcuterie boards and superfood salads!   At last, a haven for people who don’t always have time to pamper themselves, and opt to meet friends for lunch and drink instead.  Now you can have it all – under one roof!

Now you have the 411 on the place, here is a little more information on my evening!

The event itself, was to promote the fact that they have a function room 'The Grace Place' – perfect for bridal showers, birthday parties, or for a gang of friends who want to get pampered whilst enjoying a glass of fizz or two.  Excellent idea really, and one that has prompted my friend who attended with me, to start her 30th birthday celebrations there!

Upon arrival, we were met by Kirsten and Lauren who offered us a glass of pink fizz, introduced us to our manicurists and we proceeded to what I like to call ‘The best Manicure’ I have ever had!  As I type this almost a week later, my nails are fully intact and as shiny as they were when I walked out!

I was left in the very capable hands of Jean, who is fabulous, we had wonderful conversations, and the care she took in my nails was phenomenal.   Both Lindsay and I opted for a ‘Top Notch’ Gel Manicure and chose this wonderful raspberry red colour called wildfire, which I am now totally obsessed with!

After our mani’s we popped downstairs to check out The Grace Space, again beautifully styled with exposed brick walls, and really is a space that you can fill up with your best friends relax and enjoy yourself.    Downstairs, we also found some delightful nibbles, most of which are available on the menu.  The cheese was to die for, and yet again, locally sourced!

We also got to chatting with Kirsten’s Mum and Dad, who were sampling their wine, which is also stocked at the bar.  For bridal showers, and events they were showing how their delicious wine could be personalised, with the details of your event on it.  Such a nice touch, and something I would definitely look into for any event I might have in the future.   The nicest thing to come from chatting with them, was how extremely proud they were of Kirsten’s achievements and you only needed to speak to them for a few minutes to gauge all the work that she has put into it.

For the final part of the evening, we embarked on a ‘Gin Masterclass’ given by Sipsmith’s Gin and Fever -Tree.

I have never been a massive gin fan, I enjoyed a sloe gin every now and then, but gin and tonic was never my thing.  That was until I tried this!   Turns out I was not adverse to the gin, it was just the tonic that I didn’t like, but Fevertree have opened my eyes to a whole new world!   We sampled three different gins.  London Dry Gin, Sloe Gin and Summer Cup.  All three had different mixers to compliment them – and boy did they compliment them!

The London Dry Gin and Tonic, was glorious – the tonic was smooth and made for a really nice refreshing drink, something that I had never found with Gin and Tonic before.     The Sloe Gin was served with Bitter Lemon, and this was my personal fave – tasty and light, and one I will be drinking wherever I can find it!

Lastly we sampled the Summer Cup and Lemonade.   As soon as you put the glass to your mouth, you get a delightful whiff of cucumber and all things summery!  Their lemonade is so fresh, not overly sweet, and if they made me a diet version (always watching my waistline) I would drink it all the time!

All in all a top evening, full of pampering, wonderful inspiring people, and fun gin sampling.   We were each given a little goodie bag with the London Grace trademark colour ‘Grace’ that I can’t wait to rock over the summer.

Congratulations Kirsten on this wonderful place you have created, I will be seeing you very soon, I think it might be time for a pedi!
